The  UX Researcher position at Kaplan is responsible for conducting user research to uncover insights that inform and guide the design and development of our digital products and services. The UX Researcher will work closely with cross-functional teams and will champion the user's perspective throughout the product life cycle, from concept ideation to post-launch optimization. This role is for  a motivated individual contributor who is passionate about understanding user needs and behaviors and skilled at translating insights into actionable recommendations that drive meaningful impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct user research studies using a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, and analytics.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define research objectives, develop research plans, and prioritize research initiatives based on business goals and user needs.
  • Recruit participants for research studies and ensure a diverse and representative sample of users.
  • Analyze research data to uncover actionable insights and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders through compelling reports, presentations, workshops, and other deliverables.
  • Advocate for the user's perspective and champion user-centered design principles throughout the product development process.
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, business stakeholders, subject matter experts, and developers to translate research insights into user-centered design solutions and iterate on designs based on user feedback.
  • Identify and contribute to product development process improvement activities
  • Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in UX research and share knowledge and insights with the broader team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Sociology, UX Research, or other related field.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in qualitative and quantitative analysis, customer interviews, product usability moderating, experimental design, and test method selection.
  • Proven experience conducting user research in a professional setting, preferably within a digital product or service environment.
  • Proficiency in a variety of research methods, including both qualitative and quantitative techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesize complex data from multiple sources to uncover actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate research findings and recommendations to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working independently as well as collaboratively in cross-functional teams and influencing product decisions based on user research insights.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a complex environment.
  • Proficiency in research tools and software, such as user testing platforms, survey tools, and analytics platforms.
  • A passion for understanding user needs, behaviors, and motivations and a commitment to advocating for the user's perspective in product development.
  • Strong personal motivation, keen observational skills, and a consistent drive to learn, develop, experiment, and improve your research craft.
  • Preferably at least 3 years experience performing user research for a digital product or service.
