Come be a part of the Esri UX UI team next summer! We are looking for students interested in gaining applied UX, UI, or UX Research experience who are excited about working on geospatial technology that is used to solve the world's toughest problems.

Responsibilities

As a UX UI intern, you will work collaboratively with seasoned researchers, designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to run a project from start to finish. Learn what it's like to work in tech as a UX UI professional while gaining meaningful experience in the methodologies, processes, and tools used in the UX industry. While you will work on actual problems (no menial busy work here), being an intern on our team is also about developing your foundation as a UX UI professional. Whether it's how to navigate school, deciphering business lingo, or preparing for the job market, your teammates and Esri colleagues will be an invaluable resource to help you on your path.

Program Timeline

  • Applications Accepted: September 1 – December 31, 2023 at 5:00 pm PST
  • Interviews: Students selected for phone interviews will be notified by email on a rolling basis October 2023 – January 31, 2024
  • Internship: 12 weeks beginning in late May or June

Note: After the December 31 application deadline, we will begin providing regular updates to all applicants on a rolling basis. Please log back into your account to view application status updates.

  • Currently enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate, graduate, or PhD program at a university in the United States, in human-computer interaction, user experience, interation design, applied social science, or a related field such as digital marketing; undergraduates must be in a junior or senior standing
  • Ability to obtain work authorization in the United States in 2024
  • Able to complete a 12-week internship beginning in May or June 2024
  • Familiarity with qualitative, participatory, or mixed-method research approaches, including research design, participant recruitment, data analysis, and reporting
  • Ability to think holistically and work collaboratively to define and solve problems
  • Ability to take ownership of a project and self-initiate work
  • Flexibility in achieving project goals and willingness to adapt research to changing circumstances
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Recommended Qualifications

  • Curiosity about people and their interactions with digital technologies
  • Comfortable with justifying decisions and receiving constructive feedback
  • Eager to share your perspective and implement new things you've learned
  • Attention to detail
