About the Role
The SJC Media team is looking for a highly experienced UX/UI Designer to focus on evolving our portfolio of iconic media sites and digital products.
As a User Experience Designer, you will define and drive the future of our media site’s design. You will work with product managers, developers, editors, and other stakeholders to identify and set the site’s user experience strategy, design simple solutions for complex UX ecosystems, and inspire team members to push the boundaries of what’s possible. You will play an impactful role in the redesign of several of our high traffic media destinations, ensuring we achieve audience and revenue objectives.
Your work will have a direct impact on the experience of readers and subscribers, advertisers and brand partners. You’ll support our business objectives through your work of converting casual readers into fans, maximizing engagement, and scaling subscription and advertiser revenue.
Who you are
- You are an experienced web designer (both UX and UI) who understands the nuances that create valuable interactive experiences.
- You understand content-heavy, media sites at a deep level, and have experience designing UI/UX to improve reader engagement
- You have knowledge of mobile-first ad experiences, including display, programmatic and sponsored
- A proven ability to collaborate with product managers, technical leads, customers, and other stakeholders to introduce, iterate, and clarify requirements and converting requirements into easy user flows
- Experience creating user stories, personas, and storyboards with a strong grasp of designing holistic user journeys
- Determine information architecture, create sitemaps and design impactful prototypes and wireframes
- Ability to present and validate design concepts with internal and external business stakeholders
- Knowledge of industry tools such as Figma, Sketch, InVision, and Zeplin

- You can grasp multiple design requirements with careful attention to detail
- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing
