About BlueUrbn:
We are an early-stage start-up developing science-based software solutions to decarbonize the built environment. Energy retrofits are a hassle, and we are passionate about making them easy.

BlueUrbn was launched by Stanford University grad students, and in less than a year is conducting pilots with real estate managers, enterprises, engineering firms and cities, to help them decarbonize their buildings. Last year we closed our pre-seed round backed by Unshackled Ventures and The Collab Fund, and are now making strides towards a successful seed round in H1 2024.

Our team has engineering and science at the core. Dhruv, our CEO, is finishing his PhD in Energy Resources Engineering and just completed a residency in Tapestry, part of Google’s X moonshot factory. We believe that to decarbonize buildings we need to have a solid science foundation, but that solutions need to be accessible for diverse decision-makers and be easy-to-use products.

About the role:
We are looking for someone that leads the translation from our market insights and technical solutions, to beautifully designed and easy-to-use software products that deliver value to our customers. This is a great job for you if you are a UI/UX wizard, passionate about environmental issues, and are ready to take our solutions to the next level. You need to thrive conceptualizing new products, feeding from fresh insights from our customer discovery process.

What you will help us with:
Lead the conceptualization and design of our software products, particularly on web-based applications.
Coordinate with business, engineering and product teams to design the UI/UX deliverables necessary to expand our solutions. This includes wireframes, MVPs and fully-delivered products in coordination with engineering teams.
Collaborate across teams in product iteration and continuous improvement cycles.

What we are looking for:
Experience building UX/UI solutions for audiences across different technical backgrounds, preferably delivered on web applications.
Experience leading a product design process from zero to one.
Experience producing designs and wireframes for implementation by engineering teams.
Proven experience doing graphic and brand design.
Proactive and self-disciplined professional.
Comfortable working in fast-moving early-stage start-ups.
Creative thinker with a passion for aesthetics in science-based software.
Strategic thinker, that is able to think long-term and ask themselves “so what?”.
Experience working with design and innovation methodologies.
100% commitment. This must be your full time and top commitment - not part time.

You’ll be a particular great fit if you have:
Experience in energy, the built environment or ClimateTech.
Experience developing advanced data visualization, technical backgrounds and solutions that include geospatial mapping.
Experiencing managing a team, including third-party contractors.
Proven experience helping products achieve product-market fit.

Why you should work with us:
Get hands-on experience in the booming ClimateTech landscape, in one of its most exciting verticals, the built environment.
Awesome culture, with a team that has strong commitment towards the internationalization of our solution to the Global South (where 75% of our team comes from).
Exciting prospects to become the leader and architect of a growing product design team.

Logistics:
Availability to work in San Francisco at least two days per week.
This role reports to the CEO.
