About Us
Certa is growing our team of passionate people on a mission to change how businesses work together. Typically, multiple groups or siloed systems need to sign off on risks before businesses can collaborate, and today they often rely on manual processes to handle this. Certa is a SaaS workflow automation platform that makes it easy for businesses to manage the lifecycle of their third parties. Faster onboarding, higher efficiency, tighter risk management & increased efficiency - Certa is proven to have done this for some of the most sophisticated digital natives and iconic enterprises in the world, including companies like Uber, Box, Instacart, Grubhub and MasTec.

We’re looking for a product designer to lead our design system across the platform and work with feature areas like Studio, CertaAssist (Gen AI), Workflows and Analytics to develop key functionality from the ground up. Our self service and generative AI experiences, Studio and CertaAssist, are still in an early stage and there’s so much left to figure out. With an eye for simplicity and craft, curiosity for how companies big and small operate, and an appreciation for complex challenges, you can help us define the future of Studio, CertaAssist and more!

This is a full time remote role with hybrid opportunities in various locations such as NYC, Seattle and the Bay Area.

What you’ll do at Certa

  • Contribute to overall strategy and decision-making about product direction.
  • Help deliver clear storytelling around customer needs and business opportunities.
  • Work cross-functionally with product management, engineering, and design peers.
  • Create, collaborate, and iterate on flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals.
  • Design and ship high-quality features and product improvements.
  • Develop platform wide paradigms and work with different product areas to implement and align experiences for a cohesive flow.
  • Be a mentor and provide thoughtful feedback to your peers (and benefit from strong personal and professional mentorship opportunities yourself!)

Some projects you could work on:

  1. Maintain, update and evangelize Certa’s design system across design and engineering teams
  2. Design our self service (Studio) and generative AI (CertaAssist) products from the ground up for our external clients and internal configuration teams
  3. Drive our visual design to be functional and world class
  4. Lead user research and connect with customers regularly to validate ideas and gather feedback

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience working as a product or UX designer, especially with visual design experience
  • Experience using Figma and/or other design tools
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills—you’re able to explain your design decisions and strategy with clear rationale and storytelling.
  • Experience leading initiatives in a fast paced environment and ability to drive zero to one.
  • A growth mindset. We value individuals who dig into problems and see the opportunities for success in a sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Passion for user-centric design, attention to detail and craft, and a constant drive for innovation and improvement.
  • Experience working as part of a remote team as we have Certa teammates around the globe

While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:

  • A strong understanding of user-centered design principles and product strategy.
  • Familiarity with technical things like HTML/CSS and advanced Figma features like Auto Layout, Variables, and Components.
  • Past experience working with complex, large scale tools or applications.
  • Experience driving user research initiatives and using Usertesting.com
