Junior User Experience (UX) Designer

BigBear.ai is seeking a Junior User Experience (UX) Designer to join our commercial product team and help with the transformational design the next generation of advanced, AI-backed simulation tools.

This position will be remote within the United States.

‍What you will do‍

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements and translate them into intuitive, visually appealing, and user-friendly interfaces for our software tools.
• Support the design and redesign of commercial software tools that utilize discrete event simulation and process modeling to optimize business processes.
• Participate in the transformation of existing tools from a client-server architecture to a modern cloud-based SaaS platform.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups to communicate design concepts and gather feedback from stakeholders.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and iterate on designs based on user feedback.
• Work closely with developers to ensure the implementation of designs meets UX requirements.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in UX design and incorporate them into our software tools.

‍What you need to have‍

• Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government Clearance (Secret)
• BA/BS degree (in computer science or a related field relevant to UX) with some professional UX design experience
• Strong proficiency in using standard design tools like Figma and Adobe.
• Passion for creating exceptional user experiences and improving user satisfaction.
• Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and practices.
• Experience with standard web technologies, scripting/programming languages such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS3.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with multiple projects and deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present and explain design concepts effectively.
• A portfolio or examples showcasing your UX design work in a professional setting.

‍What we'd like you to have‍

• An active Secret security clearance.
• Experience with additional programming languages, such as Python, R, C++, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and PHP.
• Familiarity with cloud-based architectures and SaaS platforms.
• Knowledge of data visualization and information design principles.
• Understanding of human factors and usability engineering.
