Our Opportunity:

The Chewy Campus Recruiting Team is seeking a motivated UX Designer to join our Product Design & Research team in our Boston, MA or Bellevue, WA office.

Internship Timeframe: June 5th, 2023 – August 11th, 2023

Qualified Students: Rising Seniors

Chewy is dedicated to being the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents (and partners), everywhere. On the Product Design and Research team, we embrace this vision (and our pets!). We craft experiences that delight customers (and the businesses and veterinarians that support them) and empower them to keep their pets happy and healthy. We are a team of hard-working and collaborative designers, researchers, and content specialists looking for creative and driven talent to join our pack.

The UX Undergraduate Internship is a 10-week opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge to real world customers. We are looking for those interested in UX Design, Content Design, and UX Research to contribute to Chewy’s bar raising customer experiences. You’ll learn how to work with cross-functional partners to conduct UX Research, explore design concepts, create prototypes, and drive to final design solutions informed by real customer feedback.

You use your skills in user experience design to hone the details while keeping the customer front and center. You plan your personal work and hold yourself accountable for delivery and customer outcomes.

Earn Trust

You will build trust across the team by delivering work on time. Your constructive communication and collaboration style enables you to clearly communicate your designs and quickly incorporate feedback.

Operate at Depth

You transform customer needs into usable and elegant designs. You explore multiple solutions and clearly understand the tradeoffs for the customer. You make design decisions that deliver high-quality experiences for the customer.

Build High-Performing Teams

You continuously learn new design skills to improve your design delivery, quality, and impact. When you see an issue, you act quickly to resolve or escalate it.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (product management, developers, content, research, and other designers) to create bar raising customer experiences.
  • Transform customer and business objectives into compelling designs in collaboration with senior designers on the team.
  • Work with your mentor on an individual UX project, presented at the end of the internship.
  • Clearly present your designs, inspiration, and decisions to stakeholders

What You'll Need:

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited bachelor’s degree program in digital design, human centered design, or other relevant UX program (or equivalent certification program); with an anticipated graduation date between December 2023 and June 2024.
  • A class project, portfolio work example, or case study that demonstrates your UX education or experience to date.
  • Basic knowledge of standard UX practices and methods.
  • Position may require travel and will require time in the local office.
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, from June – August 2023.

Bonus:

  • Experience with a standard UX tool such as Figma, Invision, Adobe XD, Webflow, Axure RP, Sketch, or other.
