As the Service Design Intern, you’ll dig deep into what it takes to create compassionate, rigorous, and transformative mental healthcare services. You’ll look beyond the interface to uncover new ways of serving our members who seek mental health support and the care team that delivers that support. A high-level systems thinker, you will work cross-functionally to bring new insights to life through research, prototypes, blueprints, and other documents. With curiosity and empathy, you will investigate the overlapping complexities that underpin mental healthcare, and you’ll help advocate for new processes that are thoughtful, holistic, and deeply inclusive. How your skills and passion will come to life at Headspace Health:

  • Collaborate with fellow designers and researchers as we generate research-backed, mindful, and welcoming product and service experiences across physical and digital touchpoints including human coaches and therapists
  • Help synthesize research findings into actionable insights and informative documents
  • Co-construct diagrams, schematics, and prototypes of future service offerings
  • Collaboratively draft presentations and other internal share-outs
  • Communicate with warmth and precision across multiple teams, workstreams, and stakeholder groups
  • Identify unique and overlapping needs of people of differing cultures, demographics, and abilities

What you’ve accomplished:

  • Students currently pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree (preferably in a design or healthcare related field) or equivalent life experience
  • Previous exposure to human-centered design and/or qualitative research methods
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Interest in mental health and wellbeing
  • Prior experience in (or deep curiosity with) the healthcare system is a plus
